EFCC Arrests 17 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Kwara

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 17 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud.

The arrests were made during coordinated sting operations conducted in various locations within Ilorin and the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to a statement released Tuesday night by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the suspects were arrested at Asa Dam, Al-Hikmah University area, and Gaa-Odota in Ilorin, as well as in Ganmo and Amoyo in Ifelodun LGA.

“The arrests, which took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, were based on actionable intelligence linking the individuals to online fraudulent activities,” the statement noted.

Items seized during the operation include three luxury vehicles, several high-end smartphones, and laptop computers.

This latest operation follows a similar bust the previous week, where 47 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested in Ilorin and Ifelodun LGA.

The EFCC confirmed that all suspects will be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.
