Eid-El-Kabir: NSCDC Deploys 28,000 Operatives Nationwide to Ensure Safety

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 28,000 personnel across the country to maintain peace and security during the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.

This nationwide deployment follows a directive from the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi. Operatives from various specialized units — including the Intelligence Directorate, Special Female Squad, Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Quick Response Tactical Team, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Operations Department, and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team — have been mobilized.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Corps’ spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, Dr. Audi emphasized that the extensive deployment aligns with the NSCDC’s ongoing mission to protect critical national infrastructure and safeguard lives and property during the holiday period.

Acknowledging the heightened risk of criminal activities during festive seasons, Audi warned against potential threats posed by criminal elements and stressed the importance of proactive measures to counter them.

During a strategic meeting with senior officials, including state commandants and heads of various formations, Audi called for improved intelligence gathering through deeper engagement with local communities.

He highlighted the value of credible information in executing effective security operations, noting that no single agency can tackle security challenges alone.

He also urged the 36 state commandants and the FCT Command to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders, citing the need for coordinated efforts to combat issues such as insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, vandalism, illegal bunkering, and farmers-herders conflicts.

“We urge the public to support this initiative so that together, we can achieve comprehensive and effective security coverage,” Audi stated.
