Ekiti Monarch Urges Traditional Rulers to Back Governor Oyebanji’s Development Agenda
The Olukere of Ikere, Oba Ayodele Abdulganiyu Obasoyin, has called on traditional rulers in Ekiti State to rally behind Governor Biodun Oyebanji in his quest for the state’s development.
Speaking during a meeting of the Majority Obas of Ekiti Land (MOBEL) in Ikere-Ekiti, which was attended by over 70 monarchs, Oba Obasoyin praised the governor and his deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye, for prioritizing the welfare of traditional rulers and fostering peace and development in the state.
“We must continue to support Governor Oyebanji’s administration, as he has shown that he is committed to the development of our state.”

The monarch emphasized the crucial role of traditional rulers in ensuring peace and security while advocating for more constitutional recognition of their authority. He also expressed optimism that the monthly MOBEL meetings would strengthen collaboration between traditional rulers and political leaders for the overall progress of Ekiti State.
The newly elected MOBEL Chairman, Oba Joachim Adeyemi Afolabi, reiterated the importance of unity among monarchs to achieve sustainable development.
