Elon Musk Reveals Tesla’s Humanoid Robot Capable of Babysitting, Grocery Shopping, and Serving Drinks

Elon Musk, the multi-billionaire founder of Tesla, shared videos on Friday showcasing the latest advancements in Tesla’s humanoid robot, which can perform a wide range of tasks traditionally done by humans. These tasks include cleaning, serving drinks, teaching, and even babysitting children.

According to Musk, the robots incorporate many of the technologies developed for Tesla cars, such as advanced batteries, motors, power electronics, gearboxes, and software. He emphasized that the same engineering techniques used in Tesla’s electric vehicles are being applied to their humanoid robots, now named “Optimus.”

Musk stated, “It’s essentially a robot with arms and legs instead of wheels. We’ve made significant progress with Optimus over the years.” He explained that the project initially began with simple prototypes but has rapidly advanced. “If this pace of development continues, we are looking at something extraordinary—something that could eventually be owned by everyday people, like having your own personal R2-D2 or C-3PO.”

Musk predicted that, when mass-produced, these humanoid robots could be priced at around $20,000 to $30,000, potentially costing less than a car in the long run. He expressed optimism about the future, suggesting that the price could decrease further as production scales up.

Describing the robot’s capabilities, Musk said, “It can basically do anything you want—whether it’s teaching, babysitting, walking your dog, mowing the lawn, fetching groceries, or even just being a companion. It will be able to handle all kinds of tasks. This is going to be the biggest product of its kind.”
