The Emir of Zazzau,has highlighted the financial strain of polygamy on Wednesday, urged Northerners to limit themselves to one wife. He argued that many men are unable to adequately provide for multiple families, citing examples within his own 192-family palace community.
Simultaneously, he emphasized the need for reform in the Islamiyya education system to better address the rights of girls. Criticizing the judiciary, the Emir pointed to a recent case of a young woman imprisoned for a small debt, arguing the punishment disproportionately affected the community.
