Enugu Air to Launch Operations Monday

Enugu Air, the state-owned commercial airline of Enugu State, will officially commence operations on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The inaugural ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other prominent dignitaries expected in attendance, according to a statement released by the airline.
Speaking ahead of the launch, the Enugu State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Obi Ozor, described the airline as a cornerstone of Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for a modern, integrated transport system. He noted that the initiative aims to position Enugu as a leading aviation hub in Nigeria.
Enugu Air will begin operations with a fleet of three Embraer aircraft from the E170 and E190 series—selected for their efficiency, passenger comfort, and adaptability to regional routes.
The airline’s initial routes will form a strategic triangular network linking Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos. Plans are underway to expand services to other major cities including Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano, with potential for regional and international connections.
“With a strong foundation anchored on innovation and sustainability, Enugu Air is set to transform regional air travel, foster state pride, and elevate Enugu’s standing on the national and global stage,” Ozor said.
The launch is expected to boost the Nigerian aviation sector by increasing travel options and spurring economic growth across the region.
