Operation Lafiyan Jamaa: Nigerian Army Troops Achieve Significant Gains Against Banditry

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, collaborating with Sector 2 Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), have achieved significant successes in recent operations targeting banditry and gunrunning networks in Taraba State. These operations demonstrate a multi-faceted approach aimed at disrupting criminal activities and protecting civilians.
A decisive offensive against bandit hideouts in Achalle, a border community between Taraba and Plateau states on March 22,2025. Troops dislodged bandits, recovering a motorcycle and a crucial item—an international passport belonging to suspected criminal associate Muhammadu Dahiru.
A second major camp, containing over 70 huts, was also destroyed after the bandits fled due to overwhelming force. Another motorcycle was recovered. Further advances neutralized threats to the Dutsen Zaki high ground.
A raid on the residences of two notorious gunrunners, Irimiya Aboki and Tanko Adamu (aka Arewa Mafia) in Mararraba Donga on March 16,2025. Though the suspects escaped, the operation yielded critical evidence: four pistols, one pump-action rifle, and six cartridges were seized.
A significant breakthrough in the fight against gunrunning took place on Monday 20,2025. Troops apprehended Alhaji Mansur Mohammad, a suspected syndicate member, with 1.2 million Naira intended for purchasing weapons.
Investigators traced the funds back to sponsors in Bauchi State. Equally important was the apprehension of Adamu Yakubu (aka No Money No Guy), a suspected high-profile bandit leader allegedly involved in the brutal attack on Tse-Shiikaa village on March 10, 2025. The attack resulted in two fatalities, one life-threatening injury and multiple gunshot and machete wounds to others. Six accomplices were potentially implicated.
