Enugu gunmen kidnap FRSC officer, demand N50m

Some yet to be identified gunmen have kidnapped an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attached to the Ugbokolo unit, on Saturday near Maduka University in Nsukka, Enugu State.
FUSION CHRONICLES NIGERIA NEWSPAPER gathered that the kidnappers have demanded N50 million ransom for his release.
It was further learnt that the FRSC personnel was driving alone in his Toyota saloon car when he was attacked and abducted. The kidnappers contacted the Ugbokolo unit commander, Emmanuel Al-Hassan, using Chima’s phone to make the ransom demand.
It could be recalled that the South-East region has witnessed deteriorating security, with frequent attacks by non-state actors. These gunmen have carried out multiple abductions, collected hefty ransoms, and occasionally killed their victims. Government officials, military personnel, police officers, and others have been targeted.
The Commission has confirmed the kidnapping, and an internal memo details on the incident have been issued.
