Eid-el-Kabir: Katsina First Lady Distributes Food, Cash to 6,000 Vulnerable Residents

The First Lady of Katsina State, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda, in collaboration with Hasene International Organisation and Baris Charity Foundation Nigeria, distributed fresh cow meat and financial aid to over 6,000 vulnerable residents across the state in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

The outreach, which spanned all 361 political wards of the state, saw the distribution of between 10 and 12 cows per local government area. Katsina Local Government Area alone received 90 cows, from which 1,000 packages of meat were prepared.

Half of the meat portions were allocated specifically to people with special needs, while the rest were distributed among orphans, internally displaced persons, and other less privileged members of the community.

To ensure fairness and transparency, the First Lady established a special oversight committee comprising officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Commissioners for Special Duties, Internal Security, and Sports, along with senior special assistants on livestock and disability affairs.

As part of the initiative, the First Lady and her team visited several key institutions, including the juvenile correctional facility, Katsina’s old and new prisons, the state orphanage, General Hospital Katsina, and the Narcotics Rehabilitation Centre.

These visits were not only to distribute food, but also to share messages of hope, solidarity, and compassion.

Speaking on behalf of Hajiya Zulaihat at one of the locations, Abdulkadir Nasir said, “Her Excellency wants you to know that you are not forgotten. She sends her love and prayers, hoping everyone can celebrate Eid with dignity, joy, and a sense of belonging.”

He emphasized that the gesture was more than an act of charity—it embodies the First Lady’s commitment to service, empathy, and inclusive leadership.

“It’s about being present not only during times of celebration but also in quiet moments where compassion speaks the loudest,” he added.
