Fayemi Denies Allegations of Sexual Harassment, Slams Misleading Report

The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has strongly refuted claims that he was accused of sexual harassment by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
A recent media report alleged that Senator Cyril Fasuyi (APC, Ekiti North) made the claim during Wednesday’s Senate plenary. However, Fayemi’s media office has dismissed the report as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Ahmad Sajoh, Head of the Fayemi Media Office, clarified that upon reviewing the plenary proceedings, Senator Fasuyi never made such an allegation. Instead, Fasuyi only referenced previous disputes between Fayemi and Akpoti-Uduaghan regarding policy issues related to the Ajaokuta Steel Company when Fayemi served as Minister of Mines and Steel Development.

“For the avoidance of doubt, neither Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan nor anyone else has ever accused Dr. Fayemi of any form of sexual misconduct,” the statement read. “Dr. Fayemi has always upheld the highest standards of integrity in public service, and we reject any attempt to link his name to baseless allegations.”
Fayemi’s media team emphasized that his past interactions with Akpoti-Uduaghan were strictly professional and had nothing to do with personal grievances. They also urged the media to verify facts before publication, warning that spreading false narratives could damage reputations and erode public trust.
