Makinde Mourns the Passing of PDP Leader Adeojo

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Alhaji Yekini Ayoade Adeojo, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland.

Reports indicate that the respected elder statesman passed away early Friday morning at his home in Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde characterized Adeojo as one of the final pillars of a distinguished political generation, noting that his passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Adeojo’s family, particularly recognizing his role as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in the 1999 elections, and prayed for the strength to help them cope with the loss of their patriarch.

The governor also extended his sympathies to the wider PDP community in Oyo State.

In his statement, he remarked, “I have just been informed of the passing of our father, Pa Yekini Adeojo. I express my condolences to his family, the PDP in Oyo State, and the residents of our state, who knew him as an icon and patriot.

His departure signifies the end of a remarkable political era, as he was one of the last great leaders in our state, excelling in political, community, and religious spheres.” He said.

Makinde noted that Adeojo’s absence will be deeply felt within the PDP family, where he had served as a leader and a symbol of dedication for over two decades.

He emphasized that Adeojo’s contributions to the state and the nation were significant, creating a lasting void in both realms.

“I pray that God grants peace to his soul, rewards him with Aljanah Firdaus, and supports the family he leaves behind,” he added.

Alhaji Adeojo was the former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP and held the esteemed title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland.

He was also a respected figure in Ibadan and the father of Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, the current Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government.
