FG Issues Critical Notice to Nigerian Universities

The Federal Government has conveyed an important directive to Nigerian universities regarding their hiring practices.

Effective immediately, these institutions are required to advertise any job openings in at least one national newspaper, on their official websites, and on other pertinent academic or professional platforms.

This mandate, announced by Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, aims to promote fairness, transparency, and competitiveness in the recruitment process.

The initiative is designed to eliminate clandestine hiring processes and ensure that all qualified Nigerians have equal opportunities to apply.

Furthermore, the Ministry has clarified that universities must first obtain official approval for any new hires, which will be assessed based on their staffing requirements.
