FG to Deliver 77,400 Housing Units Nationwide under Renewed Hope Agenda

The Federal Government has unveiled an ambitious plan to address Nigeria’s housing deficit by constructing 77,400 social housing units across the country.

This initiative falls under the Renewed Hope Agenda and includes the development of new Renewed Hope Cities in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano.

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, made the announcement in a recent statement, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to providing mass housing for Nigerians.

He also welcomed collaboration with Ms Allen Le and Partners International Investment Consulting Joint Company to support the initiative.

“Our core mandate is to deliver mass housing, and we are open to working with partners like Ms Allen Le and Partners to achieve this,” Ata said.

He emphasized the government’s dedication to resolving the housing crisis through strategic investments and partnerships.

According to Ata, the plan includes the construction of 3,000 housing units each in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano for the Renewed Hope Cities.

Additionally, 250 housing units will be built in each of the 36 states under the Renewed Hope Estates program.

The broader social housing initiative will provide 100 housing units in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, totaling 77,400 units nationwide.

Ata stressed the importance of transparency in partnerships, urging potential collaborators to submit formal proposals outlining specific areas of cooperation.

“We need clarity on how you wish to collaborate with us. Indicate where you want to engage, and we will respond accordingly,” he told the visiting delegation.

Importantly, the minister announced that 30% of the social housing units—amounting to over 23,000 homes—will be allocated to Nigerians without any income.

He praised President Bola Tinubu for insisting on this percentage despite recommendations to reduce it to 20%.

The delegation, led by Allen Ke Nam of SV-NED Incorporated, expressed strong interest in investing in Nigeria’s housing sector, particularly in affordable housing projects.

Nam requested land to support the initiative and highlighted the potential for job creation and skills development through the adoption of innovative construction methods.
