Council boss warns land grabbers in Imo

Hon. Victor Osigwe, the Executive Chairman of Owerri West Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, has warned individuals and groups engaging in illegal land grabbing activities in Irete, Umuguma, Okuku, and Avu to desist as such actions will no longer be tolerated.

This came as a result of widespread reports of land grabbing in the local government area, leading to disputes and displacement of rightful owners.

Hon. Victor Osigwe, the chairman reassured residents and landowners that the government will take all necessary measures to protect their rights and properties.

“We will not fold our arms and watch as land grabbers dispossess our people of their ancestral lands,” Osigwe said.

FCNN learnt that some government officials have been accused of masterminding the illegal land acquisition and clearing of large hectares of land in Irete and other parts of Owerri West LGA.

Meanwhile residents are also planning to stage a protest to express their anger over the alleged illegal land acquisition in the local government area.
