Five arrested in Bauchi over alleged rape of 10-year-old girl with N500 lure

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five men over the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl in Zadawa community, Misau Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Tuesday, said the suspects, identified as members of a syndicate, repeatedly lured the minor with N500 and assaulted her at different locations.

The case was reported on August 12, 2025, by Yusuf Muhammad and Danjuma Muhammad, who alleged that in July, several men exploited their daughter by offering her small amounts of money.

According to Wakil, detectives immediately launched an investigation, evacuated the survivor to the Federal Medical Centre, Misau, for medical examination, and arrested the suspects. During interrogation, all five men reportedly confessed.

One suspect, Muhammad Sunusi, admitted targeting the child since she was about five years old, while others confessed to separately exploiting her after luring her with money.

The medical report confirmed the assault.
