FMAFS Collaborates with NABG to Strengthen Food Security

The Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, has announced the Ministry’s commitment to partnering with the Nigerian Agribusiness Group (NABG) to turn shared goals into actionable outcomes that will benefit all Nigerians.
During a recent courtesy visit from NABG, led by its President, Arch Kabiru Ibrahim, to his office in Abuja, the Minister expressed confidence that their discussions would pave the way for new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and significant impact within Nigeria’s food and agricultural sectors.
He highlighted NABG as a crucial private sector platform and umbrella organization that champions the agribusiness sector in Nigeria, aiming to enhance the agricultural economy, create jobs, and uplift millions from poverty.
Kyari emphasized the meeting’s importance, noting, “As we work to implement Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, agriculture is central to our efforts to generate employment, alleviate poverty, and ensure food and nutrition security for all Nigerians.” He underscored that achieving these objectives necessitates robust collaboration between the government and the organized private sector, with NABG serving as a vital link.
The Minister outlined key areas for collaboration, such as, strengthening public-private partnerships to accelerate agribusiness development, supporting the implementation and adoption of essential agricultural policies, such as the National Seed Policy, Dairy Policy, Tomato Policy, and National Quality Policy, advancing approval processes for strategic frameworks, including the Agricultural Commodity Standards and Grading System, Climate-Smart Agriculture Framework, and the National Integrated Agribusiness Agenda, enhancing access to financing mechanisms for farmers and agribusiness operators and reviewing the outcomes** of the NABG Presidential Roundtable and other initiatives aligned with our national vision.
He also praised NABG’s efforts to increase private sector engagement in policy-making and program implementation, an initiative that aligns with the nation’s objective to reposition agriculture as a viable business sector rather than merely a developmental activity.
Additionally, the Honourable Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, CON, emphasized that agriculture is the future of the country. He encouraged NABG to engage with government bodies across all levels in shaping policy directions and regulatory reforms that promote sustainable and inclusive socio-economic growth.
Earlier in his address, Arch Kabiru Ibrahim, President of NABG, stated that the organization is working collaboratively with stakeholders in the agriculture sector to diversify Nigeria’s economy from a reliance on oil and gas towards agricultural industrialization.
