
Former Chairman of Lapai Local Government and 2023 House of Representatives candidate, Honourable Isah Saidu Baka, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated 22nd July, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of PDP in Muye/Egba Ward, Lapai LGA, Hon. Baka cited personal and political reasons as the motivation behind his decision to part ways with the party.
He stated that the decision came after “thoughtful reflection and wide consultation” with family, associates, and constituents. Despite describing the move as “extremely difficult,” he emphasized that it was necessary to align with his conviction and the aspirations of the people he represents.

Hon. Baka, who served as Chairman of Lapai Local Government from 2011 to 2014 and was the PDP flag-bearer for Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, expressed his gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities and growth it afforded him during his time as a member.
