Former Senate President,Ex-SGF and 20 Others makes it up Tinubu’s Appointment List.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate appointments of 22 prominent Nigerians into key federal government agencies and commissions, focusing on strengthening public institutions and deepening governance reforms.
The appointments were made on Saturday through the office of the special adviser to the president on information and strategy , Bayo Onauga via his verified X handle, @aonanuga1956.
Among the appointees were the former Senate president, Ken Nnamani, and former secretary to the government of the federation, Pius Ayim Pius.
The immediate past deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema and former Vice President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Isa Aremu, were also appointed by the president.
Bola Tinubu also announced the appointment of former Senate President Ken Nnamani from Enugu State, as the chairman of the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). The president also named the ex-secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Ayim Pius Ayim from Ebonyi State, as the chairman of the National Merit Awards.
Among the 22 individuals, President Tinubu approved appointments to leadership positions across various federal agencies and commissions.
Ibrahim Shehu Shema, a former governor of Katsina state, was appointed as the chairman Federal Capital Development Authority(FCDA). President Tinubu also approved the appointment of the former deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, as the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Sport.
Correspondingly ,Tinubu appointed a renowned activist Comrade Isa Aremu from Kwara state, a former vice president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, as the Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies.
President Tinubu’s special adviser, Bayo Onauga, on information and strategy, announced the development in a statement on Saturday, May 24, 2025. He added that the appointment was a significant step in Tinubu’s commitment to revitalise public institutions and deepen governance reforms.
The following names made it on the appointment list.
Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani from Zamfara state as the new managing director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC). Danfulani will be working with Abubakar Umar Jarengol, from Adamama state who was appointed as executive director (operations/technical) and Osun’s Babaranti Ayandayo Rasheed as executive director (finance and administration). Respectively .
Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir from Bornu state was appointed as the director-general of the National Centre for Women’s Development.
Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe from Ondo state was named Director -General of the National Senior Citizens Centre, Abuja.
Senator, Halo Zarami from Yobe State and Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa State was appointed Federal Commissioner , at the National Population Commission.
Professor, Almustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State, appointed as the Managing Director, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), a critical subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC)
Shuaibu Shehu Aliya from Kaduna State, appointed as the Executive Secretary National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and non- formal education.
Senator, Tijjani Yahaya Kaura from Zamfara State, appointed as the Director -General, Centre for Citizenship and Leadership Training.
Senator, Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya from Katsina State, was appointed as Chairman Nigerian Agricultural Land Development Authority.
Abdullahi Mohammed from Katsina State, was also appointed as Nigeria -Sao Tome Joint Development Authority, ED (Monitoring and Implementation).
Mohammed Lawal Ibrahim from Kogi State, was appointed Nigeria-Sao Tome Joint Development Authority,ED ( Finance and Administration).
Segun Aina, from Osun State, was appointed Director -General of the Academic Staff Collage of Nigeria.
Senator, Jalo Zarami from Yobe State, and Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa State, were both appointed Federal Commissioners National Data System, Population and Planning.
Hamza Ibrahim Baba, from Kano State, was appointed National Program Manager of the Government Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Program (GEEP).
Abubakar Adamu from Benue State, was also appointed as the Executive Secretary of Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria.
The newly appointed individuals are expected to contribute strategic guidance and political insights to their respective offices.
