Confirming the appointment, the state Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi, said the initiative forms part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s plan to make Osun a sports hub capable of hosting both national and international competitions.
He said, “Plans are in advanced stages towards the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development, and policy implementation. Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate in accepting the appointment. His intervention would attract funds that would impact Osun sports positively.”
The deputy governor also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the stadium rehabilitation project “in the shortest possible time” and ensuring sustainable sports financing and development across the state.
Davido’s appointment marks a fusion of entertainment and sports leadership, signaling a new era of creative partnerships for youth empowerment and state development.
