Fuel Scandal? Petrol Attendant in Court Over Alleged ₦1.7m Theft at Lagos Station

A 34-year-old petrol attendant, Alaba Samson, has been dragged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on allegations of stealing a staggering ₦1.78 million from his employer.

Samson, whose home address remains unknown, is facing charges of felony and theft.

He, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, the offences took place between August 1 and August 2 at Jamfad Filing Station, Torikoh, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Ekpo alleged that the defendant conspired to steal from his employer.

“The defendants stole N1,781,500 on two different occasions at the filing station, property of one Falade James, the complainant.

He was arrested in his home and handed over to the Police for prosecution.”

The prosecutor further noted that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted Samson bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties in like sum. He added that one surety must be self-employed.

The case was adjourned until September 24 for mention.
