Fulani Herdsmen Attack Farmer in Guma, Victim Battles for Life

A young farmer has been left in critical condition following an attack by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen militia at Tse-Iordye in Ndzorov Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The victim, who was attacked while working on his farm, sustained multiple life-threatening injuries. Reports indicate that one of his fingers was amputated during the assault, while deep cuts on his lower arm severed veins. He also suffered significant head injuries.

Medical sources disclosed that his chances of survival currently stand at “50-50.” After the incident, the victim was first taken to the police divisional headquarters in Gbajimba before being rushed to a hospital where doctors are battling to stabilize his condition and administer stitches.

The attack has once again highlighted the wave of insecurity ravaging Guma and other parts of Benue, with growing concerns over what locals describe as inadequate response from security agencies.

Residents are calling for urgent intervention from both the state and federal governments to curb the continued violence, which has claimed many lives and displaced thousands in recent years.
