Ghana Opens Doors: Visa-Free Entry for All Africans from 2025
Starting in early 2025, Ghana will officially become a visa-free destination for all African nationals, following the approval of a groundbreaking policy by President Nana Akufo-Addo in December.
The policy, first pledged during the Africa Prosperity Dialogues, seeks to promote “stronger ties across Africa,” according to the president.
This landmark decision is anticipated to significantly boost Ghana’s tourism, trade, and travel sectors, addressing long-standing concerns about the restrictive impact of visa requirements.

Previously, Ghana allowed visa-free entry to citizens of 26 African countries and offered visas on arrival to travelers from 25 others, leaving only two African nations subject to standard visa requirements.
By eliminating these barriers, Ghana joins Rwanda, Seychelles, Gambia, and Benin as the fifth African nation to offer unrestricted access to all holders of African passports—an important step toward fostering regional integration and enhancing mobility across the continent.
