In an effort to promote unity and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, hosted a gathering of the Plateau State community in Abuja. During the event, he urged the community to collaborate and work towards attracting meaningful development that would enhance the state’s growth.

Addressing various leaders and traditional rulers representing different ethnic groups in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support he received during and after his election. He acknowledged the sacrifices, prayers, and constructive suggestions offered by patriotic Plateau citizens during the legal challenges that ultimately led to his victory at the Supreme Court.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to managing the state’s limited resources prudently. He emphasized that his goal is not only to foster development but also to lift the state out of poverty. Mutfwang recounted the dire state of Plateau before his tenure began and assured the community of his commitment to steering the state towards prosperity.

Highlighting the achievements of his administration, he noted progress in revitalizing tertiary education. Key successes include securing accreditations for Plateau State Polytechnic, the College of Education Gindiri, and Plateau State University, Bokkos. Additionally, he announced the approval for the establishment of the Faculty of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Governor Mutfwang identified Agriculture, Mining, and Tourism as pivotal sectors for Plateau State’s economic revitalization. He revealed plans to collect data on farmers to ensure the efficient distribution of agricultural inputs. Furthermore, he mentioned that the African Development Bank’s Special Agro-Processing Zone project would soon be implemented in the state.

In line with efforts to boost agriculture, the Governor disclosed that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is preparing to upgrade the Yakubu Gowon Airport into a Cargo Airport, which would facilitate agricultural exports.

Addressing the hazards of unregulated mining, Governor Mutfwang announced plans to introduce legislation aimed at curbing these harmful practices. Recognizing Plateau State’s rich tourism potential, he promised to rejuvenate key facilities like Hill Station Hotel, Plateau Hotel, and the Jos Abattoir to stimulate tourism and economic growth.

Engr. Danjuma Mwantok, Coordinator of the Abuja Liaison Directorate, thanked the Governor for creating a platform that fosters unity among Plateau residents in Abuja. He described the engagement as crucial for promoting cooperation among the state’s diverse ethnic groups.

Representatives of the three senatorial zones—Prof. Amoga Gideon (Plateau North), Mr. Asabar Golar (Plateau Central), and Mr. Dajan Camir (Plateau South)—praised Governor Mutfwang’s visionary leadership. They acknowledged the significant developmental progress made during his short time in office and pledged their continued support, urging him to sustain his transformative agenda.
