Governor Yusuf Appoints Umar Farouk Ibrahim as New SSG for Kano State

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appointed Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Kano State.
The appointment, which takes effect from Monday, February 10, 2025, was announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Saturday.
Ibrahim, a seasoned administrator with over 30 years of public service experience, is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the administration’s development agenda. His extensive background in governance and policy implementation is seen as a key asset in ensuring the effective execution of government programs.
Having served in various leadership positions, including Permanent Secretary for Research, Evaluation, and Political Affairs from 2001 to 2015, Ibrahim has been instrumental in shaping policy decisions in the state. His tenure as Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services (2015-2016) further showcased his leadership and administrative expertise.

In addition to his formal roles, Ibrahim has served on several high-profile committees, such as the Coordinating Committee on Independent Power and the State Payroll Standing Committee. His academic credentials include a B.Sc. in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, alongside numerous professional certifications.
Governor Yusuf expressed confidence that Ibrahim’s appointment would strengthen the administrative framework of his government and drive Kano State toward greater development.
