
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has called on the North East Development Commission (NEDC) on Wednesday to focus on tangible projects with lasting benefits for the north east region.
FCNN gathered that he listed security, Dry Inland Ports, African Intercontinental Free Trade Zone, independent electricity supply, and road networks as key priorities for the region.
Zulum emphasized the need for the NEDC to prioritize projects that can provide maximum benefits, given that it has gone beyond 50% of its lifespan.

The Governor expects NEDC to have a yardstick to measure its performance and achieve tangible results. He also warned that the governors of the northeast region will hold the NEDC management and board accountable for their performance.
He assured the NEDC management of the governors’ commitment to support the commission in achieving its mandate.
The State Minister of Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmodu, emphasized the need for close collaboration with the North East Governors Forum to achieve the North East Stabilisation and Development Plan (NESDP).
He assured that the Ministry of Regional Development will supervise NEDC to ensure it achieves its goals.
The delegation that met with Governor Zulum included the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on NEDC, Hon. Usman Zannah, and other committee members.
The Chairman of the NEDC board, Major General Paul C. Tarfa (Rtd), and the MD/CEO of the commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali, were also present.
