Group condemns destruction of banners by thugs allegedly working for Kogi government

Kogi State-based group, identified as the Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation (IPYF), has vehemently queried the destruction of its banners in Ibaji, by thugs allegedly sponsored by the local government.
FUSION CHRONICLES NIGERIA NEWSPAPER gathered that the said banners were torn down 24 hours of being displayed, sparking outrage from the youth organisation.
In a statement, made available to journalists on the 19th of December 2024. The group expressed its deep disappointment, calling the act a blatant attack on their rights to freedom of expression and community engagement.
The statement reads: “This despicable act, carried out by thugs allegedly sponsored by the Ibaji government, is a blatant attack on our rights to freedom of expression and community engagement,” the group said.The foundation described the vandalism as part of a broader pattern of intimidation.
“We vehemently condemn this cowardly act of vandalism, which not only undermines our efforts to uplift and empower the youth of Ibaji but also reflects the poor governance that we have consistently criticised,” they added.
Emphasising that they are not an opposition political party, the IPYF reiterated its mission to advocate for the rights and welfare of the Ibaji people. We are an organisation dedicated to advocating for the rights and welfare of Ibaji people,” they stated.
“Our mission is to promote positive change and development in Ibaji, and we will not be deterred by such underhanded tactics.”
The foundation called for the arrest of those responsible for the act and urged the Ibaji government to focus on uniting the people and advancing development.
“We demand arrest for those responsible for the disgraceful behaviour and urge the representative of Ibaji to desist from the evil childish act,” they said.
The IPYF vowed to continue advocating for the rights of the Ibaji community.
“We will not be silenced, and we will not back down,” they declared.
“Our commitment to the Ibaji people is unwavering, and we will persist in our efforts to bring about positive change, regardless of the obstacles we face.”
