Gunmen Kidnap Community Member in Agbeji Ojimele-Anyigba, Kogi State

Unidentified gunmen have abducted one Mr. Abalaka Ochala in Agbeji Ojimele, Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to residents, the incident happened on Tuesday evening when the assailants stormed the victim’s residence. Eyewitnesses said Mr. Ochala was seated inside his house when the gunmen gained access through a back road, seized him, and whisked him away into the bush.

“They didn’t come with a vehicle,” a source disclosed. “They entered through the back path leading to the bush, and that was the same route they used to escape with him.”

The development has thrown the community into fear. Mr. Ochala’s wife, who is known to be actively involved in community contributions and women’s development activities, has been left devastated by the abduction.

As at the time of filing this report, neither the police nor the state authorities have issued an official statement regarding the incident. It is also unclear whether the kidnappers have made contact with the family or demanded ransom.

Residents are calling on security agencies to intensify patrols in the area and ensure the safe release of the victim.
