Gunmen Kill Six, Abduct Two in Katsina Community Attack

Suspected bandits have killed six people and abducted two others during an attack on Jargaba community in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident reportedly occurred late Thursday when a large group of armed men stormed the community.

They opened fire indiscriminately at a public gathering spot where residents, mostly men, were socializing, killing six people.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said, “Yes, bandits attacked the community and shot people. Two died on the spot, while four others who were injured later died in the hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to six. As for the kidnapping, I’m not certain yet; I will confirm with the DPO.”

Abdulrahman Ahmed, the lawmaker representing the area in the Katsina State House of Assembly, also confirmed the attack.

He expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in the community.

“After the attackers fled, it was discovered that two children were also killed during the chaos. It is also suspected that two individuals were abducted from a nearby residence,” he stated.
