Hajj 2025: Two Nigerian Pilgrims Die in Saudi Arabia

Two Nigerian pilgrims have died while participating in the ongoing 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The deceased have been identified as Adizatu Dazumi, a 75-year-old woman from Edo State, and Alhaji Saleh Galeh, a prominent businessman from Abia State and Chairman of the Lokpanta Cattle Market.
Both individuals reportedly passed away on Monday in separate incidents.
Alhaji Saleh Galeh, described as a respected leader within his community, died peacefully during the pilgrimage. His death has drawn widespread condolences from the Nigerian Muslim community.
Funeral prayers (Salatul Janaza) were held for him on Tuesday during Zuhr prayers at the Haram Mosque in Makkah. The Islamic Calling Family (ICF) in Imo State expressed sympathy, praying for his forgiveness and admittance into Jannatul Firdaus.
In a separate case, Adizatu Dazumi, from Jattu Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, died following a brief illness.
She had completed the Tawaaf (ritual circumambulation of the Kaaba) before falling ill and being admitted to King Fahad General Hospital on Sunday. She passed away the next day.
Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Musah Uduimoh, confirmed her passing and noted that she was buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.

He extended condolences to her family and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all pilgrims.
