‘He Was Our Pride’: Daura Mourns Former President Buhari

The people of Daura are in mourning following the passing of former Nigerian President Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, who died at the age of 82 in London.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), residents described Buhari’s death as a profound loss—not only to Daura, his hometown, but to the entire nation.

“We are heartbroken. Baba Buhari was more than a leader; he was a symbol of integrity and humility.

He represented Daura on the global stage with honor and dignity,” said Alhaji Mustapha Sani, Chairman of Hamdala Transportation.

According to NAN, locals gathered in public squares and mosques across Daura to offer special prayers for the repose of the soul of their beloved son—a noble, devout, and patriotic figure.

From politicians and youth leaders to elders and women, tributes poured in, celebrating Buhari’s legacy of public service, discipline, and deep love for Nigeria.

In a condolence message, the people of Daura community extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, especially Hajiya Aisha Buhari and the children, praying that Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.

“Daura will never forget him. He was our pride,” said Malam Salihu Usman.
