“How I Sparked the M.I vs Vector Rap Beef” – Rapper N6 Spills Behind-the-Scenes Story

Popular Nigerian rapper N6 has opened up about his unexpected role in the long-standing rap feud between M.I. Abaga and Vector Tha Viper—two of the country’s most iconic hip-hop figures.

In a recent interview with Day Genius, N6 revealed that his reaction to M.I’s 2017 diss track, “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,” played a crucial part in igniting the tension that eventually led to the now-famous lyrical rivalry between M.I and Vector.

N6 said he released a direct response track titled “You Should Fix Up Your Life, Too,” which stood out from the more diplomatic responses offered by other rappers at the time.

According to him, the boldness of his lyrics provoked M.I. to respond with a barrage of tweets, setting the tone for a wider clash in the hip-hop scene.

N6 explained:

“I did a reply track to M.I’s diss track ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,’ but he replied me with tweets. So, we didn’t go on the full extent of a rap beef. He did ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives’ and I did ‘You Should Fix Up Your Life, Too,’ then he replied me with about 18 tweets.

That was the only time I ever went at a fellow rapper. I like to keep a friendly disposition with my colleagues because I know I’m crazily talented. So, what am I dragging with them? When I dropped my reply track, we got into a fight. Some people don’t know that was what led to him [M.I] and Vector’s beef.

M.I did a song entitled, ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,’ and some rappers started replying him but were being diplomatic. So, I did my reply. If you hear the things I said in my reply, I understand why out of 4,000 replies, he came for me.”

Though N6 typically avoids beef in the rap industry, this episode stands out as a defining moment in Nigerian hip-hop history.
