How to Apply for Nigeria Police Tinted Glass Permit in 2025: Full Step-by-Step Guide

The Nigeria Police Force has resumed the issuance of tinted glass permits nationwide, following a directive by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

According to the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the decision to restart the process comes amid widespread complaints of harassment by security agents over the use of factory-fitted tinted windows.

Applicants can now apply online through an improved digital process that incorporates National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), Tax Identification Number (TIN), biometric capture, and background checks. The permits will also include QR codes for easy verification, with a processing time of 72 hours.

To ease the transition, the Nigeria Police has granted a 30-day grace period starting from May 1, 2025.

Full Steps to Apply for a Tinted Glass Permit:

1. Visit the Police Specialised Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal at [www.possap.gov.ng](http://www.possap.gov.ng).

2. Sign up using your NIN, BVN, or TIN.

3. Complete the registration form with accurate personal details.

4. Verify your email using a code sent to you.

5. Log in to the portal with your email and password.

6. Select “Tinted Glass Permit,” enter your vehicle details, and upload supporting documents.

7. Confirm all submitted details and proceed with payment.

8. Schedule an appointment for vehicle inspection and biometric capture at a designated police intelligence department office.

With the enforcement set to begin soon, applicants are advised to act promptly within the grace period.
