Delta Police arrest, detain officers for assaulting man in viral video

The Delta State Police Command have been arrested and detained some officers attached to the command for assaulting a young man in a video that made the rounds in social media.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, made this in disclosure i. a post he made attaching the video on X.com on Sunday.
The PPRO stated their arrest followed an order by the command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
“We won’t tolerate incivility. Gone are those days when brutality and incivility go unchecked. Those who assaulted him will be used as an example as directed by the CP,” he noted.
Edafe explained that the officers involved have been detained while their team leaders have been queried.
He wrote, “Action taken! Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered their detention while the team leaders who are senior police officers be queried.
“Orderly room trial to commence on Monday. While the evidence is obvious, the evidence of the guy assaulted can help to reach a deserving judgment.”
