IBB Declares Mokwa Flood an Act of God
Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, says the recent flooding that led to wanton destruction of lives in Mokwa, Niger State should not be seen as human error or negligence but an act of God.
Commenting on the Mokwa flood that left almost 200 dead in his Eid-el-Kabir message on Friday, Babangida described the sad event as unfortunate and maintained that it was absolutely beyond the control of anyone.
The former President, who received a State Government delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, on a Salah homage at his Minna residence, commiserated with families who lost their loved ones in the disaster, calling on Nigerians to pray for the souls of the deceased.
” What happened in Mokwa is unfortunate, but it is ordained by Allah. It is beyond our powers, and this is why we should all continue to pray for the souls of the deceased., ”IBB said.
IBB lauded the administration of Governor Umaru Bago for embarking on developmental projects in the state, urging him to sustain those dreams. He assured the governor of his unflinching support as Governor Bago continues to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Garba who led the delegation said the essence of the visit was to seek IBB blessings and fatherly advice.
“We are aware that the General is disturbed by the recent incident in Mokwa, all we need from all and sundry is prayers, and we will also appreciate your fatherly role at all times, especially at this trying period.
“The people of Niger State and Nigeria in general are appreciative of your diligent service to the country and we assure you that the State Government will not fail you as you remain a pillar of hope for the Nation, ” the Deputy Governor said.
