Gruesome Murder in Sokoto: Police Arrest Three Over Killing of Okada Rider and Sale of Stolen Bike

In a chilling incident that has shaken the town of Sabon Birni, the Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended three suspects linked to the gruesome murder of a commercial motorcycle rider.

The suspects—Ashiru Iliyasu, Sulaiman Salihu, and Sanusi Shu’aibu—residents of Sabon Birni, have been arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery and receiving stolen property.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ahmad Rufai, the suspects lured the victim, Kasimu Yahaya, to an uncompleted building on the outskirts of the town under false pretenses. Upon arrival, Yahaya was brutally attacked with a hoe and killed.

To hide the crime, the perpetrators allegedly dumped the victim’s body in a soakaway pit before fleeing with his Bajaj motorcycle. The stolen motorcycle was later sold to the third suspect, Sanusi Shu’aibu.

“Acting on intelligence, the police swiftly apprehended the suspects. During interrogation, Iliyasu and Salihu confessed to the crime, while Shu’aibu claimed ignorance of the motorcycle’s stolen status,” said DSP Rufai.

The case is now under investigation by the Anti-Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), which is working to ensure that justice is served.
