Zinoleesky: How I Overcame Parental Resistance to Succeed in Music

Afrobeats sensation Zinoleesky has shared the challenges he faced on his journey to stardom, revealing how he defied expectations to pursue his passion for music.
Speaking during an interview on SB Live, the singer recounted how he left home at a young age to chase his musical dreams, despite resistance from his parents who, like many Nigerian families, preferred conventional career paths.
“Nigerian parents are always in denial when you want to do things like music,” he said. “I started freestyling when I was very young. I didn’t want to sound like anyone else. You just have to find a way. Me, I did some crazy stuff. I ran away from home to do music.”

Zinoleesky began his journey as a rapper, gradually transitioning into singing. His breakthrough came in 2017 through viral freestyle videos that showcased his unique style.
The Afrobeats sensation Zinoleesky later signed to Marlian Music and released his debut project Chrome Eccentric, which featured chart-topping tracks like “Ma Pariwo” and “Kilofeshe,” cementing his place in the Nigerian music scene.
