No fewer than 34 residents have been confirmed dead following a series of coordinated attacks allegedly carried out by suspected Lakurawa militants in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Fusion Chronicles Nigeria gathered that the attacks occurred on Wednesday, beginning in the early hours of the morning and stretching into the afternoon, leaving multiple communities in mourning and forcing several families to flee to safer locations.

Local sources disclosed that the worst-hit community was Mamunu, where 16 people were killed during the invasion. In Awashaka, five young men reportedly lost their lives, while Masama recorded three fatalities. The communities of Gorin Dena, Kamzo, Dan Mai Rago, Tungar Bature, and Tungar Tsoho each reported the killing of two residents.

By nightfall, tension had spread across the Kangiwa axis, as residents expressed fear of additional attacks. Many described the assailants as highly organized, moving rapidly from one settlement to another in what observers consider one of the most devastating single-day security breaches in the area in recent months.

Security analyst Bakatsine, who monitored the situation, noted that the pattern of the assault underscores the deteriorating security climate in Kebbi North Senatorial District. According to him, the coordinated nature of the attacks suggests careful planning and execution.

Residents have criticized what they describe as a slow or insufficient security response, calling on the Kebbi State Government and the leadership of Arewa LGA to urgently strengthen security measures to prevent further bloodshed.

When contacted by Fusion Chronicles Nigeria, the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, stated that he would provide an official response. However, as of the time of filing this report, no further statement had been received.
