Insecurity: Vice president Kashim Shettima’s residence, attacked by criminals in Borno

A major attempt to break into the Maiduguri country home of Vice President Kashim Shettima during the early hours of Wednesday has been foiled by security operatives.

It was gathered that the Vice President’s country home, domiciled at New GRA area of Gwange 3 Ward, off Bama Road, was attacked at around 5:30 a.m. when a criminals made efforts to breach the perimeter through the rear route by the Gadabul River.

Security sources gathered that criminals scaled the fortified perimeter wall, without the knowledge of the surveillance measures in place. “Our men intercepted him.

It was learnt that the criminal attempted to flee but was shot in the leg before being taken into custody and transported to the hospital,” a security source revealed.

It was also learnt that the suspect, is a resident of either the Meri or Maduganari area of Maiduguri, is said to be married with children.

As at the time this report was filled the Borno State Police Command has not issued statements on the incident.
