Jigawa man held for killing mother over witchcraft allegation

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Jibrin Ado, for allegedly killing his mother on suspicion of witchcraft in Gerawa village, Ringim Local Government Area.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the incident in a post on X on Thursday, said Ado carried out the attack on Tuesday with four accomplices identified as Musa Kwalle, Dan Abba, Sule Musa, and one Arrow, all of Gerawa village.

According to him, the suspects stormed the home of Ado’s father, Adamu Saleh, and assaulted his wife, 50-year-old Magajiya Ado, with heavy sticks, accusing her of being a witch. She was rushed to General Hospital, Ringim, where she later died from her injuries.

Makama added that the deceased’s remains had since been released to the family for burial. While Ado has been apprehended, his accomplices remain at large.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, said he was making inquiries into the matter and would provide updates later.
