Jigawa Woman Kills Co-Wife by Pouring Boiling Water on Her During Dispute

The Jigawa State Police Command has taken a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, into custody for allegedly pouring hot water on her 30-year-old co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, leading to her death.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, the tragic event took place on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area, following a disagreement between the two women.
“Asiyah suffered severe burns and was immediately taken to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025, at around 9:00 AM,” Adam stated.
Following her arrest, Rukayyah reportedly admitted to the crime during questioning. The police have since transferred her case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further inquiry.
In another tragic incident, a 22-year-old newlywed, Zainab Ibrahim, was found unconscious in a pool of blood at her home in Warware Quarters, Hadejia Local Government Area.
Responding to the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in Hadejia led officers to the scene, where they discovered a deep wound on her neck.

“She was immediately rushed to General Hospital Hadejia, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Adam revealed.
The police have since launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the brutal killing.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, police in Gwaram Local Government Area found the mutilated and headless body of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, along the Jikas-Dabaja village route.
His relatives, who had been searching for him, identified the remains and reported that Bashir had gone missing two days before his body was discovered.
“The circumstances surrounding his death suggest he may have been killed for ritual purposes. An intensive investigation is underway to track down the perpetrators,” the police statement noted.
The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public that it is committed to ensuring that all those responsible for these crimes face justice.
