Julius Berger Drives Major Infrastructure Transformation in Abuja

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is playing a central role in transforming the infrastructure landscape of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the capital continues to experience rapid urban growth.
According to Oliver Berger, Regional Manager at Julius Berger, the company’s strategic execution of key projects is significantly improving transportation, urban planning, and economic efficiency across Abuja.
“We are reshaping Abuja’s infrastructure. Since entering the capital in 1980, Julius Berger has partnered with the Federal Government on major development initiatives.
Today, we are advancing that legacy with a new wave of transformative projects,” he said.
Among the completed and ongoing projects are; Abuja-Kubwa Expressway, Abuja International Airport Runway, Central Bank of Nigeria Headquarters, Airport Road Interchange, Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way), Rehabilitation of the International Conference Centre, Asokoro Hillside Multispeciality Hospital, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) Headquarters, Central Roads B6/B12, Vice President’s official residence, Emergency rehabilitation of the FCT Minister’s residence.
On Arterial Road N5, Berger noted the company is making steady progress on the 4.4 km stretch, which includes box culverts, a river bridge, and the N3/N30 junction. “This is a key project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and urban development,” he added.
Speaking on the construction of the NUPRC headquarters—designed by Artec Practice Limited and built by Julius Berger—he described the structure as a landmark in design and functionality. “With its sun-shielding façade and modern engineering systems, it sets a new benchmark in building standards.”
Julius Berger’s impact is also evident in improved traffic systems across the city. Projects like the Airport Road Interchange have eliminated dangerous U-turns and reduced congestion, replacing outdated junctions with modern traffic solutions. Bridges and flyovers such as the Jabi Lake Bridge and the Nyanya-Karu Flyover have eased commuter flow and boosted safety.
“The expansion of Abuja’s arterial road network has made transportation more efficient and accessible,” Berger said. “We’ve not only improved mobility between districts but also ensured continuity in transport services, which is vital for a growing city.”
Beyond roads and traffic systems, Julius Berger has contributed to the development of public infrastructure, including hospitals, educational institutions, and landmark government buildings.
