SDP Will Rescue Kogi in 2027 – Muri Ajaka

The 2023 governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, has debunked speculations that he is planning to defect from the party, stressing that SDP remains the only platform capable of delivering the state from maladministration.

Speaking during a meeting with the State Working Committee and critical stakeholders at the party secretariat in Lokoja on Saturday, Ajaka dismissed rumours linking him with moves to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“I stand before you today, not as a man preparing to abandon the ship, but as your captain, steady at the helm. Let my words be clear: I have not asked anyone to move to the ADC or the APC. I remain a committed and dedicated member of the Social Democratic Party,” he declared.

Ajaka emphasized that the SDP’s mission goes beyond past elections, noting that the 2027 race is the true focus. He urged party members to remain united and ignore distractions from political opponents.

“This is the party that represents the hope of the common people of Kogi. Our mission is not for 2023, it is for 2027, and we must begin our work now,” he added.

The politician assured members that should there ever be a need for a change in the future, it would not be a unilateral decision but a collective one involving all stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by local government chairmen, women leaders, youth representatives, and party executives from across the 21 local government areas of the state.

In his closing remarks, the State Chairman of SDP, Hon. Ahmed Attah, praised Ajaka’s loyalty and vision, assuring him of the party’s total support ahead of the 2027 elections.
