Kidnapped Kogi Monarch Rescued

The District Head of Bagaji Odo in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, David Akpa, who was abducted last Monday, has regained his freedom.
His release was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by Gift Idoga, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Omala LGA, Edibo Mark.
According to the statement, the monarch was rescued on Thursday through a coordinated operation involving security agencies, hunters, and vigilante groups under the supervision of the council chairman.
Akpa was kidnapped on September 1, 2025, and taken into the bush by gunmen. The council chairman reportedly mobilised a joint task force of police, soldiers, hunters, and vigilantes, personally joining the search effort on two occasions.
