Kano Commissioner Resigns Weeks After Cabinet Reshuffle Amid Party Tensions
Engr. Muhammad Diggol, Kano State Commissioner for the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation, has tendered his resignation, less than a month after being reassigned during a cabinet reshuffle.
Governor Abba Yusuf accepted the resignation, as confirmed in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature. No specific reason was provided for the resignation.
Engr. Diggol was initially appointed as Commissioner for Transportation in 2023 at the onset of Governor Yusuf’s administration. However, he was reassigned to the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation following a cabinet reshuffle, where he served until his departure.
The governor expressed his appreciation for Diggol’s contributions, stating:
“Governor Yusuf expressed his gratitude to Engr. Diggol for his selfless service, unwavering commitment, dedication, and exemplary work ethic during his tenure as a member of the State Executive Council.

“The Governor also extended his best wishes to Engr. Diggol in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
Before his resignation, Diggol and the former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, were suspended by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) over allegations of disloyalty, abuse of power, and instigating internal party conflict.
