Kano Court Orders TikTok Duo to Marry Within 60 Days Over ‘Indecent’ Viral Clips

A Magistrate Court in Kano State has directed two well-known TikTok personalities, Idris Mai Wushiryaand Basira Yar Guda, to marry each other within 60 days following charges related to the release of allegedly indecent online videos.
The ruling, carried out with the involvement of the Hisbah Board the state’s Islamic moral enforcement agency has been confirmed by multiple news outlets, including Punch and Daily Trust and Fusion Chronicles Nigeria Newspaper.
The controversy began after a video featuring the two creators in what authorities described as “improper conduct” circulated widely online. Mai Wushirya had been in custody since October 7, while a warrant was issued for Guda’s arrest soon after.
The unusual court order has stirred widespread discussion on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where users are debating issues of morality, personal freedom, and the influence of Sharia-inspired laws in northern Nigeria. The topic has quickly gained traction, generating over 10,000 views and nearly 80 comments within just two hours.
