Kano court registrar, lawyers, government officials arrested for N20bn land scam

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has discovered a N20 billion land scam and arrested no fewer than 15 suspects allegedly involved in fraudulent land deals across the state.

FCNN gathered that the Registrar of the Kano State High Court, three lawyers, and four officials from the Ministry of Lands were among the suspects arrested.

The PCACC Chairman, Muhuyi RiminGado, while responding to questions from Newsmen confirmed the arrests, stating that a serving High Court Registrar, a former Deputy Sheriff, and a court bailiff were among those detained.

The Chairman also mentioned that the suspects attempted to bribe security personnel with N2 million to suppress the investigation, but their offer was declined .

The Chairman also applauded the Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Aboki, for her support and cooperation in tackling corruption within the judicial system.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state was also applauded for his order to ensure that all individuals involved in the scam face justice, pointing out that no one would be spared regardless of their status.

The commission has sworn to intensify its crackdown on corrupt practices in the state, with more arrests expected as investigations continues.
