Shettima Hails SecureID’s Innovation, Vows More Support for Local Manufacturing
Vice President Kashim Shettima has applauded SecureID Limited for its groundbreaking contributions to Nigeria’s manufacturing and digital solutions sectors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting homegrown innovation.
During a visit to SecureID’s cutting-edge manufacturing plant, Shettima highlighted the company’s pivotal role in driving Nigeria’s technological self-reliance. His tour of the facility showcased SecureID’s state-of-the-art production processes, which enable the company to produce over 200 million cards annually and serve clients in 21 African countries.
“Government is committed to fostering an enabling environment for businesses like SecureID to thrive,” Shettima stated. “Through targeted policies and interventions, we are repositioning Nigeria’s economy to support local innovation, boost foreign exchange earnings, and create employment opportunities.”
He also emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s economic revitalization efforts, noting that indigenous businesses are key to sustaining Nigeria’s economic growth.
“The health and survival of our enterprises are the true catalysts of a vibrant economy. This administration will continue to foster an environment where innovation thrives, ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to succeed,” he added.
Shettima further assured that the government will prioritize local manufacturers for the production of essential national documents, including passports and voter cards.
“Anything Nigeria, we have to patronize. Passports, voter cards—everything,” he said.
SecureID’s founder, Mrs. Kofo Akinkugbe, expressed gratitude for the Vice President’s visit, reaffirming the company’s commitment to expansion and global competitiveness.
“We are proud of what we have achieved so far, but this is just the beginning. With the support of the government, we are ready to scale our operations, increase our export potential, and contribute even more to Nigeria’s economic growth,” Akinkugbe said.

She also highlighted SecureID’s role in sustainability, revealing that the company recently launched Nigeria’s first eco-friendly SIM card.
“We are very focused on sustainability, reducing plastic use, and creating environmentally friendly solutions for our customers,” she added.
Shettima’s visit reinforced the importance of public-private partnerships in economic development, showcasing SecureID as a model for Nigeria’s manufacturing and digital transformation ambitions.
