Kidnapped Abuja Estate Resident Freed After N10m Ransom Payment

A resident abducted from Grow Homes Estate in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory, has been released after his family paid a ransom of ₦10 million.

The victim was one of two residents kidnapped when gunmen stormed the estate in the early hours of Monday. Security operatives reportedly engaged the attackers in a gunfight upon arrival at the scene.

FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the invasion and stated that one of the abducted residents had been rescued during the exchange of gunfire.

She added that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the second victim.

However, two residents told our correspondent on Tuesday that the second victim had regained his freedom following the ransom payment.

“The other man has been released,” one resident said. “The kidnappers initially demanded ₦100 million, but after negotiations yesterday, they settled for ₦10 million, which his family paid.”
