KOGI AT 34: Governor Delivers Anniversary Message, Pledges Renewed Hope for the Future

Lokoja – Kogi State today marked its 34th anniversary with a call for sober reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to the state’s development.

In a statewide broadcast to commemorate the anniversary, the Governor described it as both “a moment of celebration and sober reflection,” likening it to an individual’s birthday when progress is measured against age and expectations.

“Kogi State marks 34 years of existence as a proud federating unit of our beloved nation. This anniversary gives us the opportunity to reflect on where we have come from, to assess where we are, and to chart the course of where we aspire to be,” the Governor said.

Tracing the state’s journey since its creation in 1991, he praised the sacrifices of the founding fathers who worked to give Kogi an identity, while acknowledging the challenges and triumphs that have shaped its growth.

Highlighting recent strides, the Governor noted that the state is undergoing massive transformation with road construction, school remodeling, improved healthcare delivery, and rural development projects. “We may not yet be where we desire to be, but we are certainly no longer where we used to be,” he stated.

Looking ahead, he assured citizens of his administration’s commitment to building a more inclusive economy, driven by education, healthcare, agriculture, and industrialization. He stressed that the vision is for a state where “no community is left behind—from Akutupa to Oshokoshoko, from Adavi to Ibaji, from Ajiolo to Gegu.”

The Governor also reminded Kogites that the responsibility of building the state does not rest on government alone but requires the collective effort of all citizens to uphold peace, embrace hard work, and remain committed to the state’s greatness.

“Your votes gave me the mandate, but I want my service and results to define me,” he said, reaffirming his pledge to dedicate every day of his administration to the service of the people.

As the state celebrates its 34th anniversary, he urged citizens to renew their pledge to unity and progress, promising to hand over to future generations a state greater than the one inherited.

“Happy 34th Anniversary to the Confluence State. The journey ahead is bright, and together, we will walk it in hope and in strength,” he concluded.
