Kogi Pupils Left Behind Despite ₦76.9B Education Budget
Despite Kogi State’s massive ₦76.9 billion allocation to education from 2023 to 2025, primary school pupils in Ero, Ajaokuta LGA are learning under deplorable conditions.
A recent inspection by civic tech group Monitng uncovered shocking realities at LGEA School 2—leaking roofs, collapsed ceilings, and crumbling classrooms. The school environment is unsafe and unsuitable for learning, with children sitting on broken chairs, exposed to heat, dust, and rain.
The school reflects years of neglect, with no sign of improvement despite Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s ₦29.1 billion education budget for 2025 alone. Previous budgets—₦22.5 billion in 2023 and ₦25.3 billion in 2024—also show no tangible impact at the school.
